Annie Ross is best known as a jazz singer, but she really hits the right notes as an actress. She’s from England, and has worked extensively in the business of show, sometimes not even showing. That would be when she dubbed in the voice of Britt Ekland in The Wicker Man (1973). She’d already been working for decades, having sung the song “Loch Lomond” in the Little Rascals short Our Gang Follies of 1938 (1937). She reunited with Our Gang alum Jackie Cooper in Superman III (1983). But we love her in the sequel Oh, Alfie! (1975) where she shows what a great pair of lungs she has on her, nakedly so.
